The #PoliticsOfCare means providing #EconomicOpportunity for all.

Our community works hard to provide for their families, pay the bills, and plan for the future. Over half of Minnesotans are living paycheck to paycheck, and inflation is on the rise. Minnesotans need access to broad economic opportunities.

Standing Up for Workers

Our state’s economic recovery is built on the backs of working families, but too many Minnesotans are being left behind as the corporations, the wealthy, and the well-connected get richer. I value providing Minnesotans with pathways to good-paying jobs, supporting their small business ventures, and improving safety in the workplace.

Crushing Student Loan Debt

For too many Minnesotans, myself included, the cost of student loan debt creates significant barriers to financial stability. As a millennial, this is a top priority for my generation and our kids. I voted to support a student loan tax credit for up to $1,800 per person, and I will continue to be a voice for students buried under student loan debt.

Supporting Small Business Owners

I fought to replenish the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund to ensure small businesses were not hit with exorbitant increases in cost following the pandemic. With that resolved, continuing to support small businesses is imperative. My colleagues and I have proposed the Small Business Recovery Grants and the Spark Revolving Loan Program as one of several proposals aimed at better supporting small businesses. This program offers dedicated funds to empower people of color, women, veterans, people with disabilities, and low-income Minnesotans in their small business ventures.

Holding Government Responsible

Families have to live within our means, and government should be no different. One tax dollar being wasted is one dollar too many, and greater oversight of tax dollars and government spending is needed. I am committed to working in the legislature to pass a responsible state budget that makes necessary investments in the core functions of government while prioritizing the economic well-being of our community and the common good.

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes

Taxes are the cost we pay to live in a well-functioning society, but taxation should never inhibit access to financial stability. I authored a bill to eliminate the taxation of social security income on people making less than $75,000 a year and to increase the senior property tax deferral limits. We must develop a tax structure that rewards innovation and hard work while ensuring corporations and the very wealthy don’t pay less than folks who are struggling to meet ends meet.
